English Muffin Loaf

Ingredients:

• 5½ to 6 Cups Flour
• 2 pkgs Dry Yeast
• 1 Tbs Sugar
• 2 tsp Salt
• ¼ tsp Baking Soda
• 2 Cups Milk
• ½ Cup Water
• Cornmeal

Prep Steps:

1: Grease two loaf pans, 8½ × 5½ inches, and sprinkle with cornmeal.
2: Preheat oven to 400° (eventually).

Steps:

1: Combine 3 Cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and soda.   
2: Heat liquids until rather warm, 120° to 130° F.   
3: Add liquids to dry mixture and beat well.   
4: Stir in enough more flour to make a stiff batter.   
5: Spoon batter into two prepared loaf pans.   
6: Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.   
7: Bake at 400° F for 25 minutes.   
8: Remove from pans immediately and cool.
