| • 4 cups water, divided |
| • 1 cup cornmeal |
| • 1 tsp salt |
| • Oil for frying |
| • Maple syrup |
| 1: Boil 3 cups water. | |
| 2: Combine 1 cup water with cornmeal and salt. | |
| 3: Add cornmeal mix to boiling water. Stir until mixture returns to a boil. | |
| 4: Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. | |
| 5: Pour into a greased 4 × 8 loaf pan. | |
| 6: Chill for 8 hours or overnight. | |
| 7: Slice and fry until browned on each side. | |
| 8: Serve with syrup. |
