Caramel Corn

Ingredients:

• 1 gallon popped popcorn (about ½ cup unpopped kernels) — hot-air-popped works best
• 1½ cup brown sugar
• ¾ cup butter
• ⅓ cup light corn syrup
• ¾ tsp salt
• ¾ tsp baking soda

Steps:

1: Pop the popcorn into a large brown grocery bag.
2: Melt the butter in a large microwave-safe bowl.
3: Mix in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt.
4: Microwave until it boils (about 1½ minutes), and then 2 more minutes.
5: Thoroughly stir in the baking soda.
6: Pour caramel over the popped corn. Roll top of bag down and shake the heck out of it.
7: Microwave on high for 1½ minutes, and then shake the heck out of it.
8: Microwave on high for 1½ minutes again, and then shake the heck out of it.
