Ingredients
- 1¼ Cups Sugar
- 4 Eggs
- 1¼ Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- ⅓ Cup Toasted Almond Slices*
- 7 Tbs Hot Water
- 500 ml whipping cream
- 3-4 Cups fresh strawberries
- 2-3 Tbs Sugar
Preparation
- Heat oven to 350 F (175 C).
- Cream eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Blend flour with baking powser, and then stir gently into the egg mixture.
- Carefully mix in the almonds and the hot water.
- Pour into a buttered and floured springform pan.
- Bake at 350 (175) for30-40 minutes or until cake tests done.
- While cake bakes, slice strawberries, and toss with sugar. Set aside.
- Remove pan sides and allow to cool.
- Slice in half horizontally.
- Whisk whipping cream until you have whipped cream. (Use a cold bowl and whisk.)
- Cover bottom layer with whipped cream and strawberries.
- Reassemble the top layer and cover with whipped cream. Adorn with strawberries.

* Almond slices can be toasted in a 350-degree onion for 6 minutes, tossing once.
